WCCC have approved a road closure for July and August. It will run from 5pm on Thursday 2 July to 12 noon on Sunday 30 August for the following route:

  • O’Connell Street, Waterford from its junction at O’Connell Street/Thomas Hill to the junction of Sargent’s Lane/O’Connell Street.

Diversion Routes (one way system)

  • Thomas Hill (L15021-1) from its junction with O’Connell Street towards its junction with Meeting House Lane.
  • Meeting House Lane (L-15022-1) from its junction with Thomas Hill towards its junction with Sargent’s Lane.
  • Sargent’s Lane (L-15023-1) from its junction with Meeting House Lane towards its junction with O’Connell Street.

 

The road closure will enhance the ongoing development of Waterford Cultural Quarter as a distinctive, welcoming and engaging place in the heart of Waterford, supporting a number of festivals during July and August, including the GAA World Games (13-17 July), EASA Seanchaí – student led international architecture event (26 July – 9 Aug), Spraoi International Street Arts Festival (31 Jul –  2 Aug) and Waterford Walls (7-16 Aug) as well as other family friendly events and activities such as the AIB Portrait Prize & AIB Young Portrait Prize at Waterford Gallery of Art and the new cultural heritage based walking tours of the area, ‘Streets Through Time’, led by Joe Meagher.
