A NEW WEEKLY OUTDOOR MARKET COMES TO WATERFORD’S CULTURAL QUARTER

We are so excited about the brand new Waterford Cultural Quarter MARKET which launches on Saturday April 29th!

There is so much creativity in Waterford, from artists and artisans to crafters and music makers, that we want to celebrate and support these local artists every Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Expect craft, food, art, music, and children’s play activities.

This coming Saturday, April 29th, from 10am to 4pm, expect a diverse array of craft and food in Waterford’s Cultural Quarter.  Featuring cakes and jewellery from Ciara Power @ Cirala.ie.  Dangly and stud earrings made from clay by Tanya Dobby at Clayful Creations.  Katie Gaudig Ceramics will be bringing her quirky figurines and wall pieces. Agnieszka from Polish Village Art & Craft will sell handmade decorations, crochet toys, flower wreaths and paintings.  Wollen Wonders will be selling crochet and knitting.  Paul Doherty will have his tasty Broomhill Chutneys.  Beautiful pen and ink drawings of iconic Waterford buildings, along with hand finished Greetings Cards by Jaynee Cahill Designs.  Driftwood and Pebble Art by Lisa Walsh.  Jewellery and Giftware by Seoda Treasures.  And Fine Art by Riham Babikar.

On the day there will be FREE live music by local musicians, as well as FREE outdoor play by Active Cities.  This will include obstacle courses, giant Jenga, skipping & elastics, giant parachute, bean bags for throwing, tug-of-war, space hoppers, pogo balls, bubble makers, musical instruments, and chalk for drawing on the ground.

Trevor Darmody, WCQ Market Manager said, “In my experience of working in the arts in Waterford over the past 20 years, I’ve consistently found that Waterford punches above its weight in terms of the amount of creative people and the standard of what they do, whether that be in music, musical theatre, craft, food, or art, etc.   Yet it was still an eye opener to me as I went through the process of curating the new Cultural Quarter Market.  The volume of creative people out there, who are making the most amazing and diverse craft and food, and the standard they hold themselves to, is simply breath-taking.  And so being able to celebrate that, nurture that, and support it every Saturday in the heart of Waterford’s Cultural Quarter is a positive step forward for Waterford, and for its arts community.”
