An amazing day of celebrations were held in the Cultural Quarter on May 11th to the sounds of Brazilian beats, samba and demonstrations and workshops of Capoeira. Capoeira is described as Brazilian martial arts, combining dance, acrobatics and music. Fabulous displays of Samba, the most prevalent dance form in Brazil, delighted audiences and brought a great sense of carnival to O’Connell Street with glorious sunshine adding to the festive atmosphere.
WCQ Crafts Market was delighted to extend the market offering for the day and welcomed food and crafts of Brazil.
WCQ Place hosted the Brazilian consulate; the consulate brought their services to Waterford, assisting people living locally. Waterford Integration Services supported the Brazilian Community to organise the festival, and brought agencies such as Waterford Area Partnership onboard.
A great day out was had by all, we look forward to celebrating each year.
