Máire is a registered Architect and is Head of the Department of Architecture at Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT). A graduate of UCD, she worked in London and Paris with the Pritzker award winning architect Renzo Piano before returning to Ireland where she led the development of the first accredited degree in Architecture outside of Dublin at WIT. She was instrumental in moving the newly formed Department of Architecture in the Granary Building in Waterford City Centre.
Máire is a director with dhbArchitects. The firm has previously been shortlisted at the 2010 & 2011 World Festival of Architecture and has won many national awards for their work. Recent projects include the Apple Market and Waterford Public Realm.
Máire is on the Board of Garter Lane, Viking Triangle Trust and Waterford Civic Trust. Máire is married to Fintan Duffy and has 3 children. She lives in Waterford City.
